Growing up I had perfect vision...no problems. I could see for what seemed like miles...the darkness was not an issue...I guess I sort of took it for granted because about 4 years ago I stopped being able to see perfectly...
I went to the eye doctor....had complete eye exam... hmmm nothing wrong... your eyes are fine... perhaps just use the cheater glasses...you know.. readers... with numbers like 125, 150...etc...
Eh...don't get me wrong... they do work..when I can find them...when I haven't broken them...
Here is where it turns to sadness... I know that my changing eye ability is "just" because I am getting older...I think it was my first sense or hint of my body pullling tricks on me... telling me it is tired or wearing out...
I use to watch people have to hold out their books or papers with out stretched arms...blinking mercifully and think geez what is wrong with that person...I get it now.. and it makes me sad... I want to keep being able to read without hunting for my glasses...
Please don't laugh...just accept.. it hurts more inside than you can imagine!

4 People Have Commented:
I had lasik a few years ago to get rid of contacts. Then I started to need reading glasses. So now I am wearing glasses more than when I couldn't see.
It sucks to get old.
You are lucky to be "our" age and just now needing reading glases. At 40 my vision starting changing, and like you I'd had great vision up til then. First it was just reading, then it went to a slight distance correction, when it went to more distance correction I got contacts, and that is much better than glasses for me.
Buy a few pair, keep one pair in each room and one or two at work and just keep plugging along. You can always change your font to larger on your iPad....LOL!
I wear tri-focals. Can't do contacts.
The text in our math teacher's manual is about a font of 7, no exaggeration.
This all happened around 50, and it's getting worse and worse.
Today I put readers over my glasses. Two pair at a wear!
I used to be so proud of my perfect vision.. the only one in my family who didn't need glasses! Then in the 40s, I thought all these books started being printed with really small print! Ha.. it was my eyes. It's a bummer, but you'll adjust.
